so i recently installed vista 64 bit ultimate onto my computer, and there is something running in the background that is starting to bother me, i have a few ideas of what it could be but overall it's just annoying hearing the needle move on my hard drive constantly (or close too)

symptoms:
hard drive C: (main hard drive has basically everything on it including the OS) is at 100% use as my HD light is solid and a graph im looking at it maxed out. this will usually go in spurts of about 5 minutes i think it triggers when my computer is "idle"
when i did ctrl + alt + delete, i looked at "resource monitor" under the performance tab and the program was in the file path C:\system volume information\bla bla bla bla random letters and numbers.

i have a few guesses, 1 is a scheduled task i cant find another would be the search function turning on and sorting out for the easy search feature or whatever vista has.

any ideas?

::EDIT:::
i might have answered my own question with my second idea:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/speed-up-or-disable-windows-search-indexing-in-vista/
about search indexing which was set for the whole users folder which is quiet a few files... anyway seems to be better.

yeah i'm pretty sure it was the index searching/sorting one seems to be better now, i have 66 processes running at start up, 17 of them are svchost.exe lol.. that MUST be fixed.

guess i know what im doing
