I went out and bought XP Professional thinking that I could access my customers computer. Dah, I found out that what Microsoft offers will not do what I want to do. I want to access someone else computer, with their permission to fix issues. Remote Assist really does nothing for me.
I did some research and found programs that allow Remote Clients that can be downloaded on your customers computer and you can access it. When you are done the software will leave or shut down the connection.
There is freeware, shareware that is good out there, but I don't know what it is. Some of the paid programs are like over $300.00.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :help2:

though this topic has already been discussed on these forums (http://www.2frag4fun.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=11) (search button is wonderful)
One program i've used and sometimes use even still is called VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/), its a tunneling program that lets you control the other persons screen. It can be set-up a verity of ways (change able on server side) including when you connect all you can do is view whats going on.
it's fairly simple and if you want to try it out, send me a PM ill send you the files and give you the password and change it so u cant break my computer =P or we can setup a date/time and ill let you see how the delay is and stuff. The delay is based basically on upload speed of the server computer but not really bad at all if your just searching through windows or changing a setting. dont plan on gaming with it ;)
I've used it in a few places, one of which was from my moms vista laptop downstairs through my wireless network to my upstairs computer and typed out what songs she wants. it was very handy when i only had 2 monitors for 3 computers, i set it to service mode on the one with no monitor, then i could just connect and login through any other computer with the viewer installed.
the program is fairly simple, connection includes just an IP address and a password. some have a hard time opening ports in firewalls and port forwarding with routers so if your unfamiliar with that and have lots of firewalls it might be a small pain to setup a server.
Just reply or send me a PM and ill help you test it out.
