I'm looking for a 22in lcd monitor to replace my 17in ctr after my 19in broke. Budget is $300 so please keep the prices below that. I was looking around and saw that the Samsung 226BW seems to be the top rated one at mant sites. Havn't been able to find it in stores around here yet so I was wondering if anyone has one and what you think of it.

I own a Samsung 226BW.
I highly recommend it, it is one of the best monitors for its price. Excellent contrast values and a 2ms refresh rate on an LCD screen is very nice. Additionally, the monitor has both DVI and VGA outputs, so whatever video card you have will be supported.

I think I narrowed it down to either the 226BW or the 2232BW. I can get the 226 for $270 from newegg and the 2232 for $310 at bestbuy. The 2232 looked pretty good when I saw it the other day. I also noticed that the 226 has been out for a while now and was wondering if there is a newer model available.

Do you think I should try and get a S panel or is the A panel fine? I've heard mixed things about S panel vs A and C panels.

I mostly purchase my big stuff through TigerDirect. Why, because I get it next day. If I blow up a motherboard, do something stupid like get static on a videocard and wipe it out. Or the stuff I get is DOA. TigerDirect takes it back, no questions asked. There is allways someone to talk to. I only boy stuff like fans, cpu fans and stuff like that. Oh as far as any cable is concerned I purchased from Micro Computer Cable. It is the cheapest shit out there. SATA Cables, USB, Cat 5 or 6, any cable you can think of. Look them up.

I have a GeForce FX5200, the only serious gaming I do is DOD. I want to purchase a 19" monitor, I saw the widescreen and I like it. I want to pay in the $200 range. I expect to purchase another computer soon with faster CPU speed (AM2) 2.4Ghz + and a better Video card. But I will be keeping both machines.
I would like some recommendations form you folks.

Something else to keep in mind is the "Native Resolutions". For example, I've got a LCD that has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050. It also looks pretty decent at 1024 x 768 but every other resolution looks blurry and hazy. Mine's about 5 years old though, so this may not be an issue anymore. Always best to check though at a local store before ordering online.

or just make sure you have a good enough video card to run 1680x1050?
