Is there an actual difference between these cards other then clock speeds?

Looking at the nvidia site, the "not adjustable" features are the same. Just the clock rates are different.
http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_8800.html

I'm asking this because my card is over clocked to the following:

GPU Core: 610mhz
GPU Mem: 950mhz
Shader: not sure

given that those are higher, the bandwidth and texture fill rate will also be higher. (simple mathematical equation)

If there isn't any actual physical changes on the ultra, then for all practical purposes, My card is an ultra.

oh, side note, check out the attached screen shot, my vid card is now using 2gb of ram....

I think it's really just so they can 'justify' selling the cards for $600 when it really shouldn't cost that much.

Interesting. The 8800ultra consumes +30w over the GTX, a +21% increase in power usage, meanwhile, only two areas have a +20% increase...the rest are +11% and +6% increases...less efficient at a base. Granted, the GTX doesn't do much better compared to a 640mb GTS, but more than half of the time, its +36% increase in wattage results in a +50% increase in ability (not even counting some other areas that are improved~).

I think you'll be fine without one, Squirrl. :D

I also found out that i can't get my exact card anymore. bfg upped their factory overclock to 650/1500/2000. since sli is so picky, I'm not sure if my card would be compatible with this newer one. They also upped the price by about 150 bucks, so I definitely won't be getting a new one anytime soon. The good news about this is that I should be able to over clock the one i have even more without issues to match their new factory standard.

Because the average person doesn't have a second first-born child to pay for a second one with. Granted, I don't know what the current price is at the moment, but when I bought it, it was $600, and it was still $600 five months later.

True, I can't even afford one.

Anyway, you guys with overclocked c2d and 8800gtx's, do you have any 3dmark06 scores handy?

core2 duo 2.4 oc - 2.7
4gb ram (although vista only see 3, but the hidden ram seems to be applied to the vidcard.
single 8800gtx oc wce 612/1500 - 768mb onboard ram, total of 2gb allocated to the card.

this system is no where near the fastest (as seen by the link above) but it is pretty good.

and yeah, buying to of these cards is just way to expensive. $900 for the comparable card that i have.
