looks good to me except that one line that has "vista" in it.... DIE!!!!!!!!!

ive heard RAID kicks ass basicaly cuts load times in half, for my next computer im ganna have 5 hard drives, all SATA.

C: no raid probably an 80gig mainly has my OS + desktop (mines cluttered in Gigs)
D: + E: RAID-0 around 300+ Gigs total all for games and programs for fast loads and i wont cry if the hard drive dies
F: + G: RAID-1 (2x 500Gig) storage mainly, videos, pictures, music, things i would hate to lose

if anyone else has some feed back on Hard drive set ups, let me know.

let us know when it comes in, ill direct you to the track mania section again.

Raid is worth it...my startup is approximately 5-7 seconds for Vista...probably like 10-20 in total. Never timed it, but it's so stupidly fast that it has spoiled me whenever I use another computer.

Ok, I got it to post first try. I mean, I half assed expected it to blowup/catch fire. It wasnt hard at all to build this, and Ive NEVER even installed any type of upgrade on a computer before. Only trouble was mounting the motherboard and its standoffs. That was a bitch.

Currently installing Vista Premium x64.

Oh, is it normal for my 160gg hdd to be 149.0gb?

YO_MA_MA

grats on the install

hate your operating system with a burning firely passion.

yes 8bits = 1 byte when its converted you "lose" some when you format. my 80gig = 74.5, 160gig = 149, and 320gig = 298. It is perfectly correct.

First of all, I'm sorry for being away these last few days. My comp has been screwing with me and my lappy went down. Everything is in working order now.

Second, yo_ma_ma you pissed me off. You and your bad vibes towards Vista. You slowed this whole process down. I blame you! My fault really, but I shall blame you.

Anyhow, I just need a wireless adapter. Gonna buy it tomar, but I have to work all day. So, I get to use my new toy in all Its glorly Saturday. I'll be looking for yall in the CSDM server:ridinghorse:

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH (im turning into mentos feeding on others demise) ahahahahha....

well vista does suck hard right now, most gamers agree, and until it has a mass update (and one that is effective) im not buying it.

yomama, you wont have your hard drives labeled the way you stated above.. once you raid 2 drives, your computer sees it as 1 drive, but you can have a D & E partion on your raid0 ...
i know how it works, just figured it would look cleaner posted like that

..also in my opinion, stuff like movies etc should be on a raid0+1 which requires 3 drives..

example 100gig+100gig+200gig .. the first 2 100gig drives are in a raid0 with the third 200gig being the +1 .... this way you get the performance of raid0 with the security of raid1..
got a site that will make sure i have the correct drivers/software before i purchase my computer (probably in about 2-3 months)?

anyways.. just my thoughts..

and oh yeah .. thetryhard.. nice setup :)
i second that. everything but that damn operating system...

Raptors are out of my price range, at this time. Raid0+1 is what i'll do. I got one 160gb Seagate and one 320gb Seagate. I need to buy another 160gb and reinstall vista and what not:mad5:

zanders comes complete with 5 feet of tubes and a 3 foot mini fridge on almost freezing. can you say slushie?

mine should be in by the weekend, though i have no water cooling... just lots of blue.

SilverSquirrl

I've got new tubing and coolant to put in mine, but I'm debating to do it before or during the lan party.

What i really need is cooling for my RAM. its gets quite toasty and seems to be my weak spot in the whole "cooling" department.

What's your ram clocked to?

SilverSquirrl
September 25th, 2007, 05:44 PM
800orig - 900mhz oc'd

anything higher then 920mhz and its really unstable.

I can't get 3.6. Oh, well. gonna back it off to a 24/7 OC, somewhere around 3 with some tight ram timings.
