OK, so I was playing a little cs this morning on a Chicago server. I usually ping in the 40's there. After playing for a while(hour+) My gameplay gets all laggy. I check my net_graph 3 thingy and it says 450. So, i check my favs list all are at 450+. I reatarted steam, didnt help. What's wrong and how do I fix it.
Oh, I use wireless-g on my notebook w/linksy router. Connection is Charter 3m. I don't even have steam on my desktop. Please help me fix this.
I won't be back till early tommarrow mourning to check replys, and reply back.

possibly it is charter itself, i have charter too but this usually isnt the case.
another options u might wanna look into is running a spyware scan. but this sounds more of a bandwidth problem. check again, like zander said, possibly was just a temporary charter sucks moment, or a download on the network you weren't aware of. let us know if one of those fixes your problems.

when my family first started with charter.. it wasnt even charter the place got bought out, then bought out again with charter, its the only cable service in my area so they have a monopoly. it started as like $60 for most tv channels (including about 400 channels) and 3Mbps/256kbps broadband... now we get the same channels, and a "free" upgrade/promotion to 5Mbps/512kbps (so ideally it should still be about $60... last bill was $130. every month it goes up $1-3. last time it was at like $90 my mom told them she was ganna cancel and got like 6 months at a really good price. twas nice. hopefully she will do it again, and maybe they will bump me to the 10Mbps ^_^
anyway that is my experience with charter. on the plus side, they usually never go down except when there is a fire in the area or other natural disaster (earthquakes etc), but its never more then like 5 hours tops. occasionally it cuts out for 1 minute during the night (possibly them switching out routers or something) but all in all its been good minus the expense.

VERIZON SUCKS!! unless fios, but i haven't really tried that.
I'm hopefully gonna switch to RCN, it gives 5MBPS for 29.99. I'm so going for that. I pay like 24.99 for 3MBPS from verizon but I've never seen it reach that speed. Those fucking bastards.

mine is set at 5mbps / 512kbps, on a speed test with nothing else going it usually rings up as: 4950kbps / 500kbps ish, which is pretty close in my opinion.

Ya, that's how its supposed to be. close to what they say. I tested RCN, it was pretty close to 5MBPS. So ya, hopefully once I get it my I can play better in CS without all the lag.
